Colours of Life
If only I could paint a rainbow using the colours of my life
It would contain the most unusual shades
The darkest greys and blues of strife.
Dull browns and blacks for empty days
But with anthracite and silver, I'd make them gay
Then I'd play with red and gold to paint those tones so sad and cold
To heat lonely hearts and bring some joy
I'd load my brush, scumble and enjoy
An azure blue, on my palette I'd hold
For the cloudless sky
I'd stroke and roll
There would be festive pinks and candy hues shades of rust and copper
The cheeriest yellow too.
Lavenders and rose petal, peaches and cream
For the colours I see in you.
And with a gentle sigh, a final flick I'd give you breath
With fresh spearmint dew
and the palest blue
To give life to your eyes, as I look at you
The final touch would be a shade of pink to colour your cheeks so pale
Then just a hint of crimson red with the softest touch on your lips ...I'd trail.
